For all the flak that Brett Favre has caught this season for unretiring yet again and joining the Minnesota Vikings, it sure is looking like he made the right move. Favre and the Vikings improved to 4-0 last night as the grey-bearded quarterback turned in a magnificent performance to defeat his old team, the Green Bay Packers, 30-23. The Packers focused much of their attention on Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson and Favre made them pay for it, to the tune of 271 yards and three touchdowns on 24 of 31 passing. That’s good for a 135.3 quarterback rating.
Favre clearly brought his “A” game last night and felt that he had something to prove to a franchise that decided to move on without him. Peterson was held to just 55 yards on the ground, but it mattered not as Favre put pass after pass on the money. He looked like a young man again out there as he hit receivers in stride, shredding a defense and making two of the best cornerbacks in the league look helpless. I think we all make jokes at Favre’s expense, which is fine if done all in good fun, but you have to give it up to the man after a performance like this.
