The Indianapolis Colts somehow beat the Miami Dolphins last night, despite the fact that Miami controlled the ball for an astounding 45 minutes, rushed for 239 yards and held Indi to a mere 61 yards on the ground. The Colts led the game off with an 80-yard touchdown pass from Peyton Manning to Dallas Clark, but Miami stayed true to their plan of running the ball out of a variety of formations in an effort to control the clock and keep Manning on the sidelines. Manning proved to be too much, though, doing just enough with his limited possessions to secure a 27-23 victory. Manning hooked up with Pierre Garcon for a 48-yard score with 3:18 left to play in the game, which ended up being the winning touchdown.
The New York Jets impressed on Sunday, downing the Patriots in a hard-fought game. The Jets stifled Tom Brady and the New England offense by throwing a variety of blitz packages Brady’s way and received solid play from rookie Mark Sanchez in securing the victory. Matt Schaub and the Texans seemed to hit their stride, putting up 34 points on a good Titans defense. The Bengals surprised the Packers in Lambeau, while the Bears took down the defending champs and the Giants passed their way to a win in Dallas.
