NFC North QBs

June 10, 2009

It’s no secret that the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are bitter NFC North rivals, but a rivalry within the rivalry could be on the horizon.  Last season Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers performed extremely well in his first season as the team’s starter and looks like a potential Pro Bowler.  While Rodgers looks to continue the string of quarterback stability in Green Bay, Chicago has had trouble finding a franchise quarterback over the past couple of decades.  In an effort to change that trend, the Bears went out and traded for quarterback Jay Cutler this offseason, one of the most talented young signal callers in the league.

Now that both clubs appear to have their franchise guy lining up under center, it should be interesting to see how this rivalry plays out.  Both of these young players project to have bright careers and will be facing off at least twice per season as long as they’re with their respective teams.  They may not develop a personal rivalry, but the media is almost sure to portray one as they’re bound to have some epic battles.  The question of who will have a better career remains to be seen, as Cutler appears to be the more talented of the two while Rodgers has more weapons as his disposal.
