Super Bowl Winners At The White House

April 23, 2007

Quarterback Peyton Manning and his Indianapolis Colts met with President Bush today during the annual Rose Garden ceremony at the White House.  The tradition honors the winning NFL team of the previous Super Bowl, “Winning the Super Bowl a few months ago, I thought it was about as special as it could get.  I’m not sure that could actually beat what’s happened here today, ” Manning said.

“A lot of people here in the White House compound have been really looking forward to seeing Peyton Manning,” said Bush to reporters, “They wanted to see a guy who gets more air time than I do.”  Manning confesses he is heckled by teammates regarding his numerous endorsements and the President’s statements just gave “more ammo for the offensive line.”

Compounds, ammo, who needs all that when it is almost draft time?  Stay tuned for all the latest updates on Super Bowl prospects of the 2007 NFL Season and get tickets to your favorite teams’ games through StubHub.com.

Lucas Oil’s Super Bowl

April 19, 2007

Lucas Oil has chimed in with extra support to the Indianapolis Colts stadium bid to host the Super Bowl of 2011.  Forrest Lucas of Lucas Oil has made his public presence apparent both with the sponsorship of the new stadium and regarding the Super Bowl, “As sponsors of the stadium, I think we need to do our part of bring it here.”

Tax payer dollars added up to $500 million of the retractable ceiling stadium that is scheduled to open in 2008.  Lucas has already shelled out $120 million for his company’s name to adorn the stadium.  That includes the main entrance which is perfect for media presence where Lucas was quoted, “Nobody wants the Super Bowl here more than I do.”  His million dollar donation matches that of Eli Lilly Co. and Jim Irsay the owner of the Colts.  All donations will go to the $25 million price tag that is required to host the Super Bowl.

Despite the fact that the new Colts’ stadium hasn’t opened yet, Lucas Oil’s sponsorship has already increased the company’s profile.  Such a widely watched event as Super Bowl will have a definite and positive impact on Lucas Oil’s image.  History hasn’t had a Super Bowl with the team hosting also playing, but everyone seems to think Peyton Manning and the Colts have a good chance.  However, fans can get tickets to the four seasons remaining until that historical moment is possible at StubHub.com.

North Texas Bids Bowl

April 10, 2007

A bid to host Super Bowl XLV was finalized by The North Texas Super Bowl Bid Committee today.  They had to explain how they would accommodate 200,000 visitors and why they were the best candidate over any other city.  Each candidate must supply a tremendous number of hotel rooms (in the thousands), make ample public travel arrangements available (taxis, buses, limos and trolleys), as well as reservation agreements with any local venue capable of holding more than 1,000 people.

To add to the exorbitant list of requirements practice facilities must be made available for the teams and provision for all team and press affiliated groups.  All of North Texas and the $1 billion Dallas Cowboys’ Stadium has some stiff competition against Indianapolis and their new retractable roof stadium, and Glendale, Arizona who has already clinched the 2008 Super Bowl.  Get tickets to this season’s NFL and all Super Bowl games at StubHub.com.

Arizona Bids for Super Bowl XLII

April 5, 2007

The state of Arizona officials are confident in their proposal to host the 2011 Super Bowl.  Chairman of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, Mike Kennedy was quoted saying, “I feel like the community unified to support the bid and worked together very effectively and cooperatively.”  As it stands now Glendale, Arizona’s University of Phoenix Stadium will be host to this coming season’s Super Bowl XLII.  Stating their bid was received ahead of the Monday deadline Arizona is up against very competitive bids from Indianapolis, Indiana and Dallas, Texas who are both building new stadiums that will be done in time for the Super Bowl of 2011.

A new stadium is a factor that could sway the vote, but we’ll have to wait until the spring meeting held in May in Nashville, Tennessee to find out which city will be awarded the game.  If Indy receives the honor it will be added to the proud sports legacy it has acquired including host to the Final Four, NBA Finals, AFC Championship, and the only city to host all three car racing leagues of Indy, NASCAR, and Formula One.  Dallas’ warm weather and retractable roof stadium will make for a tough decision.  Their bid was led by former quarterback to the Dallas Cowboys, Hall of Famer Roger Staubach.

You may not be in the market for Super Bowl tickets to 2011’s game, but the 2007 NFL season is around the corner and tickets are already selling on StubHub.com.
